Leny Yoro Earns First Senior France Call-Up After Ibrahima Konaté Withdrawal
Leny Yoro, the 20-year-old centre-back for Manchester United, has been unexpectedly called up to the senior France national team by manager Zinédine Zidane, as confirmed by the French Football Federation.
This marks Yoro's first invitation to the senior squad. He steps in for Ibrahima Konaté, the Real Madrid defender who had to withdraw due to a minor right knee sprain. Yoro, formerly with Lille OSC, was already present at France’s Clairefontaine training camp, having been summoned by U21 coach Gérald Baticle.
Yoro will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills during the upcoming Nations League matches against Turkey, Belgium, and Italy. He becomes the seventh player to receive a maiden senior call-up from Zidane, joining the ranks of Guillaume Restes, Jean Butez, Andy Diouf, Jérémy Jacquet, Lucas Da Cunha, and Estéban Lepaul.
