Leah Davidson Joins Charlton Athletic from Melbourne City

Charlton Athletic have moved decisively in the summer market, securing the signing of Australia international Leah Davidson from A-League Women giants Melbourne City on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old midfielder arrives with a serious winning habit. Across the last six seasons in Australia, she collected three consecutive league titles and passed the 100-appearance mark for Melbourne City after joining them from Brisbane Roar in 2020.

That level of experience, at that age, is exactly the profile Charlton have been targeting. Davidson has already broken into the Australia setup, earning four caps, and now steps into the English game at a point where her career looks ready for a new gear.

“I am so excited to be here and be a part of something so special,” she said, reflecting on the decision to leave a club and a league she knows inside out. “I spent six years at Melbourne City. I loved it, grew as a player and a person, but I thought: ‘I can't say no to this opportunity.’”

The move continues a busy week in SE7. Davidson becomes Charlton’s second arrival in quick succession, following the signing of goalkeeper Anna Koivunen from Djurgardens IF, as the club quietly reshapes its spine with proven, international-level talent.

A midfielder with over 100 games for a dominant Melbourne City side, a serial champion, and already capped by her country: Charlton are not just adding depth. They are raising the bar for what comes next.
