Stamford Bridge has a new believer.

Fresh through the doors in west London, Lacroix cut the figure of a defender who already understands the weight of the shirt he is about to wear. Pride was the word he kept returning to, and it framed every line of his first message as a Chelsea player.

"I am really happy to be part of this beautiful club," he said, laying out exactly what the move means to him. Chelsea’s reputation did the rest. "Everyone knows the legend of Chelsea, its tradition of winning, and to be a part of that is a proud moment."
