Karim Adeyemi will have to wait for his Camp Nou moment.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger, who completed his move to FC Barcelona last week, has not yet been unveiled on the pitch in front of supporters – a ritual that has become almost as iconic as the signings themselves.

This time, the stage stayed empty for a simple reason: the World Cup final.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barça president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco were both in attendance as Spain edged Argentina 1-0 in extra time in yesterday’s showpiece. With the club’s top brass not expected back in the city until Tuesday, the traditional presentation was pushed back.

The plan now is clear. Adeyemi is scheduled to be presented to the press and fans on Wednesday, 22 July, at the Catalan club’s stadium, finally giving supporters their first live glimpse of the 24-year-old in Barça colours.

It is a slight deviation from the original blueprint. Barcelona had hoped to tie up the deal before the weekend so Adeyemi could step straight into training under Hansi Flick, integrating immediately into the German coach’s sessions.

Instead, the winger waits, the cameras wait, and Camp Nou – or what it represents, even in its current state – waits.
