Juventus Target Balogun as Arsenal Weigh Álvarez Gamble

The summer market has barely settled into a rhythm, yet the biggest clubs are already jostling for position, angling for the one move that might tilt a season.

In Turin, Juventus have fixed their gaze on Folarin Balogun. In north London, Arsenal are toying with the kind of high‑stakes play that can define an era.

Juventus look to Balogun for cutting edge

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are considering a move for AS Monaco and USMNT striker Folarin Balogun, viewing the 25-year-old as a live alternative to Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.

This is not a scouting whim. Juventus want a forward who can stretch the pitch, drag centre-backs into uncomfortable spaces, and punish high defensive lines with runs in behind. Balogun ticks that box.

Monaco will not let him walk. An offer in the region of €50 million is expected to be the starting point, with the striker already on the radar of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur. If Juventus step in, they will be entering a crowded, expensive race.

Arsenal, Gyökeres and a €150m problem

Across the Channel, Arsenal’s attacking puzzle looks even more complex.

TalkSPORT reports that the club could be prepared to include Viktor Gyökeres in a player-exchange proposal to sign Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez. Atlético are understood to hold an interest in the 28-year-old Swede, who scored 14 goals in 36 Premier League matches last season.

Yet the move is tangled in complications. Arsenal have not yet fully accelerated their pursuit of Álvarez, and the Argentine has identified Barcelona as his preferred destination. Any deal would be eye-watering: a transfer fee upwards of €150 million.

Gyökeres, despite a solid return in the league, may find himself vulnerable as Mikel Arteta reshapes his forward line. Arsenal want more incision, more variety, more goals. That usually means casualties.

The reshuffle does not end there. TEAMtalk reports that Juventus, RB Leipzig and several Saudi Pro League clubs are tracking winger Gabriel Martinelli. At the same time, Leandro Trossard is said to have agreed a €20 million move to Besiktas. If both wide men move on, Arsenal’s front line could look unrecognisable by the end of August.

Barcelona eye Romero as back line reset looms

Barcelona, locked in their own rebuild, are again looking towards the Premier League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan club are keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero. The 28-year-old’s representatives have informed Spurs of his desire to leave this summer in search of a new challenge, and that has opened a narrow window for interested clubs.

Barcelona are currently prioritising a forward, but they remain in the race for Romero’s signature. Inter are also following the Argentina international closely. Aggressive, front-foot defenders of his profile rarely come to market; when they do, they move quickly.

Amorim turns to familiar face at Milan

In Milan, a new manager is looking to an old ally.

Calciomercato reports that Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has been added to the shortlist of AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim. Amorim previously worked with Mazraoui at Old Trafford and now wants him as a key piece of his San Siro rebuild.

Milan see the 28-year-old as a potential replacement for Pervis Estupiñán, who has been linked with Aston Villa. The deal, though, is finely balanced. United are not keen to let Mazraoui go, so any move is expected to depend on whether the defender actively pushes for a switch to Italy.

Barcelona’s striker search: Asllani and Vlahovic

Up front, Barcelona’s search for value has taken them to Hoffenheim and back to a familiar Serie A name.

Sport reports that the club are exploring moves for Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani and free agent Dusan Vlahovic. Asllani, 23, is admired by the Barcelona hierarchy and has a €29 million release clause in his contract, a relatively modest figure in this market.

Vlahovic, 26, is available on a free transfer after his Juventus contract expired. On paper, it looks like the bargain of the window. In reality, salary demands have cooled Barcelona’s interest, and Besiktas are now in position, with the Serbian forward potentially set for a three-year deal in Istanbul.

Deals done: Greenwood, Tielemans and Diani on the move

While the rumor mill churns, some business is already over the line.

Mason Greenwood has completed a move from Marseille to Fenerbahçe, signing a four-year deal for a fee of €40 million. A sizeable slice of that goes back to Manchester United, who inserted a 35% clause when he left Old Trafford for Ligue 1.

United have also been active on the incoming side. The club have confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa after triggering the £35 million release clause in his contract. The Belgian midfielder, a central figure in Villa’s Europa League triumph last season, now steps into a United midfield in need of control and experience.

In the women’s game, London City Lionesses have made a statement signing, landing former OL Lyonnes striker Kadidiatou Diani. The 31-year-old joins for around £500,000 on a three-year contract, a move that underlines the club’s ambition in a rapidly evolving market.

The rest of the market: big names, big decisions

Behind the headline deals, the boardroom conversations keep stacking up.

  • Manchester United are discussing a potential move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, though the Frenchman’s current preference is to remain at the Bernabéu.
  • Al Nassr and Al Hilal are among the clubs monitoring Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado.
  • Sporting CP are not currently considering a deal for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, despite recent reports.
  • Crystal Palace are interested in Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard, according to the Daily Mail.
  • Paris FC are weighing a €30 million move for Juventus and Canada striker Jonathan David, says Tuttosport.
  • AC Milan are leading the race for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, per TEAMtalk.
  • Real Sociedad and Real Betis are both keen on Southampton forward Leo Scienza, previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
  • Ajax remain hopeful of signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to Mike Verweij.
  • Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz is open to a switch to Everton, reports Football Insider.
  • AS Roma are lining up a move for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, says Corriere dello Sport.
  • Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek is keen to leave amid interest from Celtic.
  • Juventus, having struggled to reach an agreement with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez, are set to refocus on Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

Names move, numbers rise, and strategies shift by the day. Somewhere in this swirl, one decision will reshape a title race, another will close a window on a player’s prime. The question now is which sporting director blinks first.
