Juventus and Inter Milan Consider Frattesi–Gonzalez Swap
Juventus and Inter Milan are testing the waters on a swap deal that underlines how sharply defined their summer priorities have become.
On one side, Juventus. They have had Davide Frattesi in their sights for a while, with Luciano Spalletti pushing for a reunion with a midfielder he trusts and knows how to use. The Bianconeri see the Italy international as a ready-made upgrade in the middle of the pitch, a player who can raise the technical level and intensity of their engine room.
On the other, Inter. Fresh from reshaping their attack, they now want another winger and have zeroed in on Nicolas Gonzalez. The Argentinian has built a strong reputation over recent seasons, and his profile fits neatly with Inter’s need for direct, goal-threatening width.
That alignment of needs has opened the door.
Talks underway
According to Calciomercato, the two clubs have opened discussions around a deal that would involve Frattesi heading to Juventus and Gonzalez moving the other way. The idea is simple enough: each side gives up a player in an area of relative depth to strengthen a position of greater need.
For Juventus, the appeal is obvious. Spalletti believes he can extract the best from Frattesi, and the club is alert to any scenario that might finally bring him to Turin. Inter, for their part, view Gonzalez as a winger who can step straight into Simone Inzaghi’s rotation and add another layer to their attacking options.
The pressure on both clubs to refresh key areas has given this proposal real traction.
Gonzalez pushing for the exit
The dynamics are helped by Gonzalez’s stance. The report states that he impressed during his loan spell at Atletico Madrid last season, underlining his value on the market. At the same time, he has made it clear he does not want to play for Juventus again.
That position changes the equation. A permanent departure becomes not just logical but necessary, and a swap — if structured correctly — offers Juventus a clean solution to a complicated situation while handing Inter the winger they want.
Juventus, though, will not move blindly.
Balancing the books and the valuations
Inside the negotiations, one issue looms large: market value. The two players are not considered to be worth the same amount, and Juventus are expected to tread carefully as they weigh up any proposal.
Any agreement would need to reflect that gap. The Bianconeri will push to ensure that if Frattesi and Gonzalez are exchanged, the financial component — likely in the form of additional cash — accurately covers the difference in their valuations.
Only under those conditions would Juventus be ready to sign off.
