The Dutch striker, once billed as a centrepiece of United’s rebuild, has become one of this summer’s most intriguing transfer stories. According to The Athletic, multiple clubs have explored a deal, with United open to selling as they reshape their attack. Zirkzee, still only in his early twenties but already at a career crossroads, is weighing up his options after a bruising spell in English football.
Two unnamed Premier League rivals have tested the water, sounding out his situation and United’s stance. Ajax also made an enquiry, a natural fit on paper for a technically polished Dutch forward in need of a reset. But the timing is wrong. With Marcos Leonardo and Tolu Arokodare already through the door in Amsterdam, the Eredivisie side are not expected to push for an agreement.
The real noise is coming from Turin.
Juventus step on the gas
Juventus are driving this race. The Italian giants are working on a loan deal, and Zirkzee has, per reports, given his approval to a return to Serie A. It makes sense. Italy is where his reputation soared, where his blend of touch, vision and movement translated into end product and acclaim.

For United, that performance changes little. They remain open to a sale, conscious of both the market interest and the need to streamline a squad that has too many maybes and not enough guarantees. For Juventus, it is encouragement. They are not chasing a reclamation project; they are targeting a player who has already proved he can thrive in their league.
A loan move would suit all parties. United ease their wage bill and potentially protect value. Juventus gain a forward tailored to Serie A’s tempo and tactical nuance without a huge upfront gamble. Zirkzee gets what he needs most: minutes, responsibility, and a familiar stage.
