Inter Milan Closing in on Curtis Jones Transfer
Inter Milan are closing in on Curtis Jones in a deal expected to be worth around 35m euros (£30m), with Liverpool increasingly prepared to cash in on the midfielder.
The Italian champions saw a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) knocked back in June, when Liverpool made it clear they valued the 25-year-old at closer to £35m, despite him having just a year left on his contract. That stance has softened slightly. A package in the region of £30m now looks like the sweet spot.
Sources in Italy believe a verbal agreement is already in place. Inside both clubs, the message is more cautious: talks are advanced, but key details still need ironing out before anything is signed off.
Liverpool are open to selling Jones and are using Inter’s own business as a reference point. They want a deal broadly in line with the £30m package the Nerazzurri paid Tottenham for Djed Spence. If Inter reach that level, there is growing confidence a transfer will follow.
This is not a new courtship. Inter pushed in January, proposing an initial loan with an option to buy. Liverpool rejected that structure, unwilling to lose a senior midfielder without a guaranteed fee attached. The tone has changed now, with the clock ticking on Jones’ contract and Arne Slot reshaping his midfield.
Jones has been a long-term presence at Anfield since his breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. He has racked up 228 appearances for the club, a testament to his durability and versatility in a squad that has chased major honours on multiple fronts.
Yet last season under Slot told a different story. Jones featured 49 times in all competitions, but only 18 of those came as Premier League starts. He struggled to nail down a permanent role in a crowded midfield, often shuffled in and out rather than trusted as a first-choice option.
Now, with Inter pushing and Liverpool ready to deal at the right price, a move that once felt unlikely suddenly looks close. If the numbers land where both sides expect, Jones’ next chapter may be written in Serie A.
