Hansi Flick's Urgent Push for Karim Adeyemi at Barcelona
Hansi Flick wants his Barcelona era to start at full speed, not with a gentle jog.
With pre-season due to begin on Monday, the new Barça coach is pushing for Karim Adeyemi to be through the door, in kit, and on the training pitch as quickly as the club’s negotiators can manage it.
The Catalan side have already made noise by lodging a bid for the Borussia Dortmund winger, a move that has immediately sharpened attention around Camp Nou. Adeyemi is understood to be keen on the switch, seeing Barcelona as the next step in a career that has already taken him from Salzburg to the sharp end of the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Spanish journalist Gerard Romero reports that Flick “hopes that Adeyemi will be with the group on Monday at the start of the Blaugrana preseason,” underlining how central the 24-year-old is to the coach’s early plans.
That urgency is not accidental. Barcelona’s squad will return next week in fragmented form, with a cluster of key players either still involved at World Cup 2026 or on a delayed break after their exertions at the tournament. Flick will open his first pre-season in Spain without several of his headline names, so any new arrival he can work with from day one gains extra importance.
Adeyemi, by contrast, could walk into a dressing room where places are temporarily up for grabs and first impressions carry real weight.
The framework of the deal already looks clear. Adeyemi has reportedly agreed personal terms with Barcelona, leaving the two clubs to thrash out a fee that satisfies Dortmund without wrecking Barça’s carefully watched finances. Until that number is found, the move sits in the familiar transfer limbo: close, but not done.
What is not in doubt is Flick’s belief in the player. The pair know each other well from their time together with the German national team, where Flick got a close look at Adeyemi’s pace, direct running and ability to stretch defences. That prior relationship now feeds into Barcelona’s push; this is not a speculative punt, but a coach asking for a winger he already trusts.
For Flick, a smooth reunion would give his Barcelona project an early jolt of electricity. For Adeyemi, it could be the moment his career shifts onto an even bigger stage. The clock to Monday is ticking, and so is the pressure on both clubs to turn intent into a signature.
