Neville praised Arsenal’s defensive setup as superior to their closest rivals. While United and Chelsea secured important victories, he emphasized that Arteta’s focus on defense has created a gap too wide for other teams to close. For example, Chelsea nearly lost a three-goal lead against Brighton under manager Xabi Alonso, and Manchester United depended heavily on Bruno Fernandes in a high-scoring 5-2 match.

Neville highlighted Arsenal's recruitment strategy, especially their impressive depth at the back. He mentioned the new signing of Ezri Konsa alongside established defenders like Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
"It’s incredible what Arsenal have done really, to sign Ezri Konsa, because they’ve got Timber, White, Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly. They’ve already got eight amazing defenders and now they’ve signed another really good centre-half. It’s almost like they’re doubling down and saying, ‘We’re not going to concede goals, we’re just going to make sure we’re better than everyone else defensively by a million miles’ - and they are. That will win them a title again."
He added that if one compared Arsenal’s forwards with those of Manchester United, Liverpool, or Chelsea, the attackers might be similar, but Arsenal’s defense and midfield clearly outshine the competition.

Neville expressed doubts about Chelsea’s defensive stability despite their win over Brighton. He pointed out the lack of a consistent defensive identity under Alonso, contrasting it with Arsenal’s well-settled backline. Chelsea recently brought in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and fielded defenders Levi Colwill, Maxence Lacroix, and Wesley Fofana, but Neville sees them as talented individuals rather than a cohesive unit.
"They had to make the decision to bring in a new goalkeeper [Emiliano Martinez]. They’ve done that and brought in a big personality. It was Colwill, Lacroix and Fofana that played there against Brighton and I just look at that… what I see are very talented defenders in a lot of teams but I don’t see units."
He contrasted this with Arsenal’s defense, naming Timber, Calafiori, Saliba, Gabriel, and goalkeeper David Raya as a true back four with solid understanding. Neville said only Arsenal currently possess such a unified defensive unit, comparing it to the championship-winning defenses of Manchester City and Liverpool in past seasons.
