Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Training Session with Jannik Sinner Ahead of Comeback
Jannik Sinner is gearing up for his return to competitive tennis, set to compete at the China Open in Beijing next week. The Italian, who won the title last year, has been sidelined by a knee injury since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final.
Despite his absence, Sinner still holds the top spot in the ATP rankings. However, his lead is narrowing as Zverev’s recent US Open win has him closing in with less than 2000 points separating them. If results favor the German, he could overtake Sinner before the season concludes.
Practice Sessions in Monte Carlo
Sinner has been training in Monte Carlo during his recovery, recently joining forces on the court with fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, who finished as runner-up at Roland Garros, is currently in London competing for Team Europe at the Laver Cup.
“We joked around a lot,” said Cobolli in an interview with Super Tennis TV. “It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I have the occasion, I try to get the most out of the hours we play together. He’s one of the people who teaches me the most; I am always up for it when it comes to training with him.”
The 24-year-old Cobolli is experiencing his best season yet and is making his third consecutive appearance at the Laver Cup. His debut came in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from winning three times in a row.
