Dybala and Roma Negotiations Stalled Over One Million Euros
Roma and Paulo Dybala are still staring at the same problem from opposite sides of the table: the numbers don’t match.
The Argentine forward, whose contract situation has hovered over the club’s summer plans, has yet to find an agreement with the Giallorossi on a renewal. What only weeks ago felt like a formality now looks like a delicate standoff.
Dybala himself set the tone in a recent interview with ESPN, choosing his words carefully but leaving every door open.
"I'm still a Roma player until the end of the month. Out of respect for the club, I won't talk about my future because I haven't decided yet. Anything can happen. Many times I thought one thing would happen, and instead, it turned out to be completely different."
That line — “anything can happen” — has echoed loudly around Trigoria.
Negotiations are ongoing, but, according to Repubblica, they are stuck on a familiar fault line: money. Dybala is asking for a more advantageous deal than the one currently on the table, and the two sides are separated by around one million euros in salary.
It’s not a huge gap for a player of his stature, yet it is big enough to stall talks at a crucial moment. Roma have made their offer. Dybala’s camp is pushing for more. Between those positions lies the uncertainty of the club’s attacking blueprint for next season.
What once “seemed imminent” has slowed into a cautious poker game, with the calendar adding its own pressure. His status as a Roma player is guaranteed only “until the end of the month,” as he reminded everyone. After that, the scenario can flip quickly.
The figures are clear. The future is not. And until someone blinks over that missing million, Roma’s plans will remain tied to a signature that has not yet arrived.
