Deniz Undav Sets Deadline for VfB Stuttgart Contract Talks

Deniz Undav has set the clock ticking in Stuttgart.

The VfB star wants clarity over his future – and he wants it fast. According to Bild, the striker has given the club an ultimatum: a decision on his improved contract must be made by Tuesday, June 2. No signature by then, no more talks for now.

The timing is no accident. On Tuesday, Undav flies to the United States with the German national team to prepare for the World Cup. From that moment on, his focus is supposed to belong entirely to the tournament, not to negotiations, clauses or salary structures. Stuttgart must decide before he boards that plane.

Inside the club offices, the numbers on the table are already substantial. VfB are said to have offered Undav an annual salary in the region of €5.5 to €6 million. That would be a clear jump from his current wage of around €4.5 million. On top of that, a signing bonus of €3 million is reportedly part of the package – money simply for putting pen to paper.

For now, it has not done the trick. The offer, as reported, still does not meet Undav’s expectations. Hence the pressure. Hence the deadline.

Stuttgart, who have built so much of their recent attacking identity around the 27-year-old, now stand at a crossroads. Lose time, and they risk losing momentum in talks with a player central to their plans. Move decisively, and they lock in their goalscorer on new terms before the World Cup spotlight potentially drives his value even higher.

The next few days will decide whether VfB can match Undav’s ambitions – or whether the World Cup becomes the stage on which his future drifts further away from Stuttgart.
