Inter Milan Targets Federico Chiesa After Curtis Jones Transfer
Liverpool’s summer reshuffle has already sent Curtis Jones to Italy. Inter Milan paid a fee that could rise to £30 million for the 25-year-old on Friday. They might not be done shopping at Anfield yet.
This time, their gaze has drifted towards Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa, 28, arrived at Liverpool from Juventus in 2024 for around £12.5m, a deal that looked like smart business at the time. A Euro 2020 winner, a proven Serie A performer, and a winger with pedigree. On paper, it fit.
On the pitch, it never truly caught fire.
Chiesa has a Premier League winner’s medal, but his role has been largely peripheral. A sizeable reported wage of £150,000 per week has only sharpened the focus on his limited impact. He never quite forced his way to the heart of Liverpool’s plans and has struggled to convince under successive coaches.
Preseason under Andoni Iraola has done little to change that picture. The new manager has not been won over, and Liverpool are now open to a sale if their valuation is met. Inter, fresh from landing Jones, are watching closely.
Luis Henrique exit opens the door
The Italian champions are preparing for a change of their own in attack. Brazilian forward Luis Henrique is expected to join Roma for around €25m, a move that would free up space and funds in Cristian Chivu’s squad.
That potential departure has pushed Chiesa firmly into the frame.
Inter reporter Fabio Bergomi has pointed to the Liverpool winger as a leading candidate to replace Luis Henrique, outlining the logic to his audience.
“Chiesa could be the one who goes in place of Luis Henrique, if Luis Henrique accepts Roma, as seems to be the case,” he said, before adding that he would “narrow it down to Chiesa” as a plausible deal for Inter to close.
The idea is clear: Jones to bolster midfield, Chiesa to add depth and experience out wide. Two players from Anfield, one summer, one clear statement of intent.
Injury clouds and an uncertain future
Chiesa’s Liverpool story last season under Arne Slot never really got going. He made only two Premier League starts and failed to make a convincing case in either. For a player of his reputation, the numbers tell their own story.
His absence from training in the buildup to Liverpool’s season opener against Newcastle has only fuelled speculation over his future. That absence, though, is understood to be injury-related rather than linked to any imminent transfer.
Even so, the direction of travel feels obvious. Liverpool are reshaping under Iraola. Inter have already tested the waters with the Jones deal and know exactly who they are dealing with across the table.
The question now is simple: having taken one key piece from Anfield, will Inter return to complete a Liverpool double by bringing Chiesa back to Serie A?
