Como push hard for Trevoh Chalobah as Chelsea era ends

Como have come back to the table for Trevoh Chalobah, and this time their offer feels like a statement of intent rather than a tentative enquiry.

According to reports, including Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club have submitted a fresh proposal to Chelsea worth €25m in guaranteed fees, with a further €5m in bonuses that are described as easily achievable. On paper, it is a package designed to take the deal cleanly to the €30m mark. In practice, it underlines how serious Cesc Fabregas’s side are about landing the 25‑year‑old.

Inter had been linked earlier in the summer, but Como have moved with greater conviction. The project is ambitious, the money is clear, and the player’s stance is softening in their favour. Romano reports that Chalobah is keen on the idea of joining the newly promoted Serie A side, while Calciomercato.com claims there is already an agreement in principle over his salary.

The attraction is obvious. Chelsea, who limped to 10th in the Premier League in the 2025-26 season, will not play European football next term. Como, remarkably, can put Champions League nights on the table. For a defender whose development has stalled amid constant upheaval at Stamford Bridge, the contrast is stark.

The timing of Como’s push is no coincidence. In West London, the dominoes are already falling at centre-back. Chelsea have agreed a deal reported to be worth around €60m (£52m) for Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, a signing that will only drive Chalobah further down the pecking order.

Once a symbol of the club’s academy pathway breaking through into the first team, Chalobah now finds himself squeezed by another expensive arrival. With Lacroix coming in and no European fixtures to stretch the squad, minutes will be at a premium. Something has to give.

For Como, that pressure represents opportunity. For Chalobah, it may be the moment to trade the uncertainty of a crowded Chelsea defence for the clarity of a leading role in a team heading into the Champions League.
