Chema Andres Thrilled by First Brighton Goal in 3-0 Win Over Arsenal

Chema Andres, Brighton's recent signing, has quickly made his mark in the Premier League after joining from VfB Stuttgart this summer. The Spanish midfielder celebrated his first goal for the Seagulls during a commanding 3-0 victory over Arsenal and admits he can’t stop rewatching the moment, thanks to clips sent by friends and family.

Immediate Impact at Amex Stadium

The young midfielder arrived on September 1 in a deal worth about €23 million. He debuted with a strong performance in a 5-0 win against Coventry City, then scored a stunning goal in the home win against Arsenal. His impressive displays have helped Brighton climb to third place in the league standings early in the season.

Adapting to English Football

Talking to MARCA, Andres shared how quickly he has settled into the pace and style of the Premier League since arriving on the south coast just three weeks ago. He said, "Well, as you say, very quickly, but with great enthusiasm, very happy, and thank God, so far everything is going well. I’ve been here for three weeks."

Comparing the Premier League to the Bundesliga, he added, "They are two very competitive leagues, but the Premier League is the top league in the world. The tempo is dynamic and fluid with few stoppages; referees let the game flow, and the physical level is higher. Scoring in the Premier League is genuinely thrilling."

Reliving the Moment

The excitement over his milestone goal continues as friends and family frequently share video clips in group chats. Chema admits he keeps watching the goal again and again, saying, "I must have watched it several times by now because my friends and family keep sending it to our group chats. And I just say, well, I’ll watch it again. It gives me a real buzz, I’m not going to lie."

Settling Into the Squad

On adjusting to communication in his new team, Andres noted, "Now I’m doing well, much better now. Everyone speaks English at the club. In Germany, most spoke English too, but German could hold you back a bit. English is better. The gaffer is German, but I already understand German people a bit, so it’s all good."

Brighton’s Strong Start Continues

Brighton head into the international break with ten points from five games, holding a spot near the top of the table. Their next challenge is a tough trip to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on October 10. A win there will be important if Brighton want to keep their place among the league leaders.
