Michael Carrick has expressed strong approval of the developing connection between Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans following their impressive showing in Manchester United’s decisive win against Sabah. The pair anchored the midfield in a dominant display that helped secure a 3-0 lead by half-time.

"I think all four midfielders tonight carried on the same way," Carrick said. "Mason coming on at half-time and Andrey settling in fantastically well. Kobbie and Youri have played more minutes, and you can see the understanding. Youri settled in, and I thought he was really good again tonight. Kobbie’s been really consistent all the way through. We’ve got really good options in there."
Benjamin Sesko Adds a New Dimension
The attacking unit also impressed, with Benjamin Sesko scoring for the second consecutive match after returning from a shin injury that ruled him out of pre-season. The Slovenian forward offers a different attacking threat thanks to his physicality and pace, qualities Carrick values highly.
"He definitely offers a different kind of threat," Carrick remarked. "There aren’t many players who give you what Ben does — his physique, physicality, playing on the last line, and speed to run behind. It’s great to have him back after working to get fit. A couple of goals and good performances so far, really pleased with how he’s gone."

Sesko’s workload will be managed carefully as he regains full match fitness. With Mount returning and Santos integrating smoothly, Carrick now has several strong midfield and attacking options to rotate through a demanding schedule.
