Milan, Napoli and Bournemouth circle as Embolo becomes summer’s latest striker prize

Breel Embolo has become the newest name on Milan’s attacking shortlist, and he will not be alone on the market for long.

The Switzerland international, currently at Rennes, has been identified by Milan as a serious option for Rúben Amorim’s frontline. As reported by calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri have already opened talks with the player’s entourage to understand the margins of a deal – both the feasibility and the price.

For now, Rennes have not been approached directly. The Ligue 1 club value Embolo at around €15m and hold him under contract until 2029, which gives them a strong hand at the negotiating table. What tilts the balance slightly is the player’s stance: Embolo, who impressed at the recent World Cup, has already indicated he is open to a return to Italy.

A crowded race for a proven profile

Milan are not alone in the chase. Napoli, now under Massimiliano Allegri, also have Embolo on their list as they redraw their attacking blueprint. From England, Bournemouth are tracking the situation as well, and the Premier League is understood to be a destination the striker would welcome.

Embolo’s name has echoed around Serie A corridors for years. Juventus and Roma have previously explored the idea of bringing him in, a measure of the esteem in which he is held in Italy. This summer, the interest has sharpened again.

Dominoes before deals

For Milan and Napoli, though, the path is not yet clear. Business elsewhere must move first.

At San Siro, the Leão question hangs over every attacking discussion. Milan have not received an offer they consider acceptable for Rafael Leão, and they have set the bar at €50m. Until that situation shifts, room for manoeuvre remains limited.

Napoli face a different kind of logjam. Sporting director Giovanni Manna is working to place Romelu Lukaku, whose future again sits at the centre of a transfer puzzle. Only once the Belgian’s next step is defined can Napoli fully commit to a move for another forward.

Milan do have another possible trigger. Santiago Giménez is among those who could leave, and if he does, the club could decide to accelerate for Embolo regardless of what happens with Leão. A departure there would open a fresh lane for Amorim’s reshaping of the attack.

For now, Embolo to Milan is an idea in its early stages, not yet a negotiation. But the framework is clear, the interest is real, and the price is on the table.

Once one of those attacking dominoes finally drops, this could be one of the summer’s quickest deals to gather speed.
