Besiktas Makes Final Offer to Mohamed Salah

Besiktas have pushed their pursuit of Mohamed Salah as far as they are prepared to go. Now they wait – and the decision rests entirely with the former Liverpool star.

Club president Serdal Adali has confirmed that the Istanbul side have made what he describes as their “final official offer” to Salah, after weeks of talks with the Egyptian forward and his camp.

“As has been published in the media, we have for some time been conducting negotiations with Salah and his representatives regarding the details of the deal,” Adali told Turkish outlet Ortacizgi, laying bare just how long Besiktas have been working on the move.

The discussions reached their decisive phase recently. That is where Besiktas drew a line.

“In the final stage, we discussed the demands of the player and his representatives from all angles, and after mutual negotiations, we submitted our final official offer. We also asked them to inform us of their decision within a short period,” Adali said.

The message is clear: Besiktas have done all they can.

Transfer work at the club is ongoing, but Salah sits in a category of his own. Adali stressed that the board had weighed every request from the player’s side against the club’s financial and sporting interests before locking in their proposal.

“While our transfer work continues at full force, this is the current situation regarding Salah. We have assessed the amendments requested since the start of the negotiations, in line with the club's interests, and we have submitted our final offer,” he explained, before delivering the key line.

“Now the decision lies with the player.”

Salah has been linked with a move to Besiktas throughout the current window, a rumour that refused to fade as talks progressed behind the scenes.

According to respected Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Besiktas have already reached an agreement on personal terms with Salah and his agent. The proposed deal on the table is a one-year contract, reportedly worth up to 12 million euros.

For Besiktas, the numbers are set, the pitch has been made, and the clock is ticking.

For Salah, one choice will define whether this is the summer he trades the familiar glare of Europe’s elite spotlight for the fevered noise of Istanbul.
