Barcelona Signs Teen Winger Jesse Bisiwu for Future

Barcelona have moved again in the summer market, this time for the future. On Friday, the Spanish champions confirmed the signing of teenage winger Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge in a deal reported at 8.5 million euros.

“FC Barcelona and Club Brugge have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jesse Bisiwu, who signs up to be a blaugrana until 30 June 2031,” the club announced, tying the Belgian down to a long-term contract that underlines how highly they rate him.

At 18, Bisiwu becomes the latest young attacker to land at Barcelona, following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi. Different profiles, same message: the champions are rebuilding their forward line with pace, power and years ahead of them.

Bisiwu arrives as one of Belgium’s standout prospects. A regular in the youth national teams, he burst into wider view at the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, driving Belgium to the semi-finals and earning a place in the tournament’s Best XI. That was the moment his name started to travel beyond the Belgian border.

Born on January 22, 2008, he took his first steps at OH Leuven before switching to Club Brugge’s academy in 2020. From there, his rise quickened. Over the past two seasons, he played 14 times in the UEFA Youth League, scoring three goals and showcasing the direct, fearless style that caught Barcelona’s eye.

The club describe him as a winger with “a great future ahead” built on pace, strength and dribbling. Those are the raw tools. The finishing school now lies in Catalonia.

Bisiwu has already tasted senior football with Club NXT, Brugge’s reserve side, debuting in the Belgian Second Division in 2023 at just 15. He went on to make 36 appearances at that level, a significant body of work for a teenager still waiting for his first minutes with Brugge’s senior team.

He will not be thrown straight into the Camp Nou spotlight. Barcelona plan to start him with their reserve side, allowing him to adapt to the club’s demands and the rhythm of Spanish football while he continues to grow.

With the move, Bisiwu steps into a small but notable line of Belgians to wear Barcelona’s colours, following Thomas Vermaelen and Fernand Goyvaerts.
