Arsenal Push for Guimaraes as Summer Spending Soars

The summer window has finally caught fire. Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are all deep in negotiations, chasing numbers that would have looked absurd a decade ago and now feel almost routine.

At the centre of it all, Arsenal are preparing to go big. Very big.

Arsenal push for Guimaraes as spending soars

Bruno Guimaraes has told Newcastle he wants to leave, and Arsenal are ready to move. Initial contact has been made with the midfielder’s camp, and while there has been no formal bid lodged with Newcastle yet, a concrete offer is expected.

The numbers are staggering. Arsenal could end up spending close to £200million on Guimaraes and another priority target, Morgan Rogers, as they reshape Mikel Arteta’s midfield and forward line. Bradley Barcola, another name on their list, is understood to carry a price tag of around £130m.

Behind those headline deals, the squad building continues in quieter fashion. Piero Hincapie’s loan has been made permanent, as anticipated, and former Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier is set to arrive on a free transfer after passing his medical, slotting in as third-choice keeper.

The interest in Guimaraes has wider implications. With Declan Rice already the heartbeat of Arsenal’s midfield and teenage talent Ethan Nwaneri Lewis-Skelly highly regarded, the move signals Arsenal’s determination to load their engine room with elite depth rather than simply wait on youth.

Villa dig in over Konsa as Nusa race heats up

Not everyone is willing to play ball. Aston Villa are ready to “do everything in their power” to keep Ezri Konsa out of Arsenal’s grasp, according to reports. The Midlands club have no intention of losing their centre-back and are prepared to make any negotiations as awkward as possible for the Gunners.

Arsenal’s recruitment drive stretches further. They are also tracking Norway forward Antonio Nusa, one of the breakout performers at this year’s World Cup. The RB Leipzig man, valued at between €50m and €60m, has no shortage of admirers.

Tottenham are among them. Spurs are in that race too, as are Newcastle, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, turning Nusa’s next move into one of the more intriguing subplots of the window.

Manchester United strike for Santos, eye Ederson

At Old Trafford, Manchester United have finally landed on a midfield solution of their own. They have agreed a £50m fee with Chelsea for Andrey Santos, a significant piece of business as they attempt to refresh a tired core.

United are not stopping there. Ederson is flying in for a medical after Brazil’s early World Cup exit, with the club moving quickly to capitalise on the disruption to the national team’s plans.

Alex Scott, once heavily linked with United, may now be heading in the opposite direction. With Chelsea set to receive the Santos money, the Bournemouth midfielder has emerged as a leading candidate for reinvestment at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea reshuffle and Derry heads to Sporting

Chelsea’s squad churn shows no sign of slowing. As they prepare to cash in on Santos, the Blues remain in talks for Maxence Lacroix and Pep Chavarria as they continue to retool their defensive options.

One of their brightest young prospects is also on the move, but only temporarily. Jesse Derry, who made his Premier League debut last season, has signed a new long-term contract running until 2032, just a year after arriving from Crystal Palace. He is now close to sealing a season-long loan to Sporting, a move designed to accelerate his development with regular first-team football.

Spurs still spending, Liverpool hunt Salah heir

Tottenham have already spent more than £230m, yet the chequebook is still open. They are ready to go again for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, whose fee could climb towards £100m.

Rafael Leao has also been linked with a move to north London, underlining just how aggressive Spurs are prepared to be in reshaping their attack.

Up on Merseyside, Liverpool face a different kind of challenge: life after Mohamed Salah. With the Egyptian’s future an ongoing storyline, the club are working on potential replacements. Crysencio Summerville is the latest forward to be linked, another wide attacker who could, in time, shoulder some of the burden Salah has carried for so long.

Juventus chase Martinez, Palace close in on Mingueza

On the continent, Juventus are pushing hard for a new No1. Talks have been held with Emiliano Martinez’s representatives as the Turin club step up their pursuit of the Aston Villa goalkeeper.

Martinez has already agreed a three-year deal in principle, but there is a gap between the clubs. Villa want around €10m for the World Cup winner. Juventus are not yet willing to go that high, leaving this deal delicately poised.

Crystal Palace, by contrast, are closing. They are set to sign Oscar Mingueza, now a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo. The Spaniard’s ability to operate both at centre-back and right-back offers Palace valuable flexibility as they attempt to build a more robust defensive unit.

Barca, United and Liverpool circle Herrington

The next wave is already on the radar. Colorado Rapids defender Lucas Herrington, 18, has drawn interest from Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United after impressing for Australia at the World Cup.

The MLS club are believed to be open to a sale. A structure is on the table that could see Herrington remain in the United States on loan for a season before a permanent move is made official, giving any buyer time to manage his transition.

Fabinho waits on Real, Adeyemi eyes Barca

Fabinho is another name back in European conversations. The former Liverpool midfielder, now a free agent after leaving Al Ittihad, is open to joining Real Madrid this summer and is currently spending time in the Spanish capital following Brazil’s World Cup defeat by Norway.

He has made no secret of his desire to return to the Bernabeu. For now, though, Real Madrid are not actively pursuing a deal.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are working on a different front. Karim Adeyemi has agreed personal terms with the Catalan club, with the Borussia Dortmund winger keen on a switch to La Liga as his contract in Germany ticks towards its final year.

The move has entered the decisive phase: direct negotiations between Dortmund and Barca. Hansi Flick wants the forward, and Barcelona are pushing to deliver him.

Hjulmand slips away from Premier League giants

Not every long-running pursuit ends in England. Arsenal and Manchester United have both been tracking Morten Hjulmand, but the midfielder is heading elsewhere.

Atletico Madrid have struck a deal with Sporting CP worth €40m for the Dane, closing the door on two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs and strengthening Diego Simeone’s hand in the middle of the park.

Deals are being agreed, medicals booked, and private jets chartered. The money is flowing, the stakes are rising, and some of the game’s biggest names are on the move.

The question now is simple: who blinks first in a market where hesitation can cost a season?
