Arsenal's Interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Faces Major Hurdles
Arsenal’s pursuit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is already starting to look like a non-starter.
Mikel Arteta wants a marquee addition to his front line this summer, and Sky Sports say Arsenal have identified the Georgian as a prime target. At 25, and already one of Europe’s most feared wide forwards, he fits the profile perfectly. Since his €80 million move from Napoli to PSG in January 2025, he has turned that price tag into a statement rather than a gamble.
The problem? PSG have no intention of playing along.
PSG’s “untouchable” winger
Inside the French champions’ hierarchy, Kvaratskhelia is viewed as off-limits. Eighteen months of relentless output in Paris have pushed him into the “untouchable” bracket, especially for a club desperate to keep the core of a team that has finally conquered Europe.
He has forced his way into a star-studded XI and stayed there. Across 74 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants, he has produced 24 goals and 17 assists, numbers underlined by a goal in last season’s Champions League final as PSG demolished Inter Milan 5-0. Performances like that don’t just win trophies; they harden a club’s stance in the market.
Any route from Parc des Princes to the Emirates looks blocked from the outset.
Father shuts down exit talk
If Arsenal were hoping for a hint of restlessness from the player’s camp, they have not found it. Speaking to Kviris Palitra, via Fabrizio Romano, Kvaratskhelia’s father Badri made the family’s position crystal clear.
“Khvicha leaving PSG? He’s not thinking about that,” he said. “He’s happy in Paris, where he is highly valued and respected by club. Why should he think about moving elsewhere when he is winning titles with the team and is one of PSG’s key players? If PSG no longer wishes to continue the cooperation, we will consider options, but for now, this is not being discussed.”
No hints. No leverage. No invitation to bid. Just a firm message: Paris suits him.
A settled star in a ruthless attack
Kvaratskhelia has not just adapted to PSG; he has become one of the faces of their attack. The “Georgian Messi” tag, once a flattering nickname, now feels like a shorthand for the chaos he causes full-backs on a weekly basis.
He has embraced the pressure of a dressing room packed with elite talent and responded by making himself indispensable. In a team that expects to win every domestic game and now every European tie, he has thrived rather than disappeared into the background.
Any departure would require a major strategic rethink from PSG, not just a large transfer fee. Right now, there is no sign of that rethink.
Arsenal noise grows as Bayern loom
The timing of the speculation is no coincidence. PSG are preparing for a huge Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, and Kvaratskhelia is central to their plans. Having already lifted the trophy with the club, he is chasing repetition, not escape.
Those close to him say the motivation is clear: stack more silverware, write more history in Paris, keep driving this era of dominance. A move to England, even to a resurgent Arsenal side, sits firmly in the background.
The links from north London will rumble on as long as Arteta looks for a new attacking star. But with Kvaratskhelia content, valued, and protected by a club that finally has the European formula it craved, Arsenal may have to accept a simple truth: this cornerstone of the PSG project is not moving any time soon.
