Arsenal Poised to Outpace Liverpool for Bradley Barcola After Securing Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal are seen as front-runners to sign PSG winger Bradley Barcola, following their recent acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle for £75 million. Despite Liverpool's interest and a substantial £100 million offer, Arsenal appear ready to clinch the deal for the French attacker.

Strengthening the Squad

The Gunners have been active this summer, officially welcoming Guimaraes as their third new signing after winger Christos Tzolis and goalkeeper Illan Meslier. After missing out on Vinicius Junior, who extended his stay at Real Madrid, and selling Leandro Trossard to Besiktas, Arsenal are targeting Barcola to add firepower upfront.

Barcola Transfer Tug-of-War

Liverpool have also placed Barcola at the top of their transfer list, proposing a £100 million bid. PSG, however, demand closer to £150 million for the two-time Champions League winner. Former Arsenal forward Perry Groves told talkSPORT that Barcola might prefer moving to London rather than Liverpool due to the Reds’ transitional phase under manager Andoni Iraola.

"Liverpool are a team in transition with Andoni Iraola imposing his style and new signings coming in. If you were Barcola weighing chances of winning the Premier League or Champions League, Arsenal seems the better bet right now," said Groves. "I’ve got a source that says he wants to live in London. Barcola would be very good for Arsenal."

Support from Former Players

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong also urged the club to keep strengthening after their recent Premier League triumph. Speaking to Ladbrokes, he emphasized the need for consistency and further squad additions, particularly wingers and a natural number eight midfielder.

"Mikel Arteta and the team finally won the league, which is great, but they can't settle for just one title. They need to keep dominating like past Manchester United and Manchester City teams," Frimpong said. "We have a deep squad but still need a couple of wingers and a proper number eight. I’d love to see Bruno Guimaraes and Bradley Barcola join Arsenal; that would make a strong transfer window."
