Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan

Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship club a much-needed injection of pace on the left flank.

The 25-year-old arrives from Fenerbahce on a straight loan deal, with the Turkish club agreeing to cover a proportion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative contract until 2030, the numbers never stacked up for a permanent commitment.

Norwich’s plans on the wing changed sharply when Ali Ahmed suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna. Once scans confirmed a long lay-off, City went back into the market. Musaba quickly became the solution.

He flew into England on Monday night, completed his medical, agreed personal terms and now becomes the club’s fifth senior signing of the summer. He joins a reshaped attacking unit that already includes £8m headline arrival Andre Brooks on the opposite flank.

Familiarity with the Coach

For Clement, it is a familiar face in a key area of the pitch. The pair worked together at Monaco, where the Belgian coach first got a close look at Musaba’s potential during a pre-season spell after the winger returned from loan.

“I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move,” Musaba told the club’s official channels.

“I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.

“I remember him from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him. He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player.

“I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then. There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going.”

Championship Experience

Musaba is no stranger to the Championship. During a previous spell with Sheffield Wednesday, he clocked up 80 appearances and delivered 23 goal contributions, a record that underlines both end product and durability in one of Europe’s most unforgiving divisions.

At Norwich, he will wear the number 49 shirt and slot into an attacking blueprint that sporting director Ben Knapper believes suits him perfectly.

“I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City,” Knapper said.

“We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.

“He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically.

“We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets.”

Norwich wanted a winger who already understands the grind of the Championship and the expectations of a promotion-chasing club. They have turned to a player who knows the league, knows the coach and now has a point to prove on a bigger stage.
