Alvaro Gonzalez Reveals Cristiano Ronaldo's True Personality Away from the Spotlight

Former Al-Nassr defender Alvaro Gonzalez has offered a revealing glimpse into what Cristiano Ronaldo is like beyond the cameras during their time together at Al-Nassr. The Spanish centre-back described Ronaldo as approachable and humble behind closed doors but said the football legend transforms into an intense competitor once the game begins.

Inside the Dressing Room

Gonzalez reflected on the atmosphere they shared in Riyadh while playing in the Saudi Pro League. He praised Ronaldo’s down-to-earth nature, highlighting how the five-time Ballon d’Or winner always supported his teammates since arriving at the club. This friendly environment made a strong impression on everyone.

"Honestly, and after confirming it with other team-mates we've had in common, he's absolutely fantastic inside the dressing room," Gonzalez said on Radio MARCA.

He added, "Inside the dressing room, he's a completely normal person, approachable and someone who helps you." Yet, this easygoing side shifts dramatically once the whistle blows.

A Fierce Competitor on the Field

The moment Ronaldo steps onto the pitch, his demeanor changes completely. Gonzalez described him as a "competitive beast" driven by a fierce desire to win. This intensity also showed in training sessions, where the two often engaged in tough physical challenges.

Despite these battles, their relationship stayed friendly off the field. "Afterwards, we'd go to the jacuzzi, have some laughs and joke around, and it would all be forgotten," Gonzalez explained.

Legacy Among Football Greats

Gonzalez acknowledged Ronaldo’s place alongside legends like Lionel Messi, confirming their status in football history.

"People like him and [Lionel] Messi will go down in the history of football," he said.
