The qualification playoffs have wrapped up, revealing the complete roster of 48 teams for this summer's tournament held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Hosts and Group Placements

United States, as a host nation, secured an automatic spot in Group D. They kicked off their campaign on June 12 with a victory over Paraguay. Upcoming matches include clashes with Australia and Türkiye.

Canada competes in Group B, starting with a draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their remaining group games are set against Qatar and Switzerland.

Mexico had the privilege of hosting the opening match at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, defeating South Africa 2-0. Mexico will also face Korea Republic and Czechia in Group A.

Tournament Format and Group Stage Details

The 48 teams are divided into 12 groups of four. Each team plays three matches within its group to decide who advances.

The top two teams from every group, along with the eight best third-place teams, will move on to a 32-team knockout stage. Tiebreakers follow this order: goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head results, fair play points, then drawing of lots.

FIFA introduced new paths to the semifinals to avoid the highest-ranked teams meeting before the final if they win their groups. For example, Spain (ranked first) and defending champions Argentina (second) were placed on opposite sides of the bracket. The same applies to France (third) and England (fourth).

Teams from the same confederation could not be drawn together except European countries.
