Victor Osimhen on Transfer Rumors and Commitment to Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen did not slam the door shut. He did not fling it open either.

Pressed on growing talk of a move to north London after Galatasaray’s latest outing, the Nigeria striker walked the tightrope with the poise of a player who knows exactly how the transfer game works.

"There are always rumours during the transfer windows. I’ll focus on my job. I’m focused on my work. We’ll see and think about what comes next then," he told reporters, batting away the speculation without quite killing it.

The questions will not stop any time soon. Arsenal are understood to have explored the possibility of signing Osimhen during discussions over Gabriel Martinelli and teenage talent Ethan Nwaneri. The 27-year-old, though, remains tied to Rams Park on a deal running until June 2029, a contract that gives Galatasaray serious leverage as the window ticks towards its deadline.

For now, Osimhen is publicly nailing his colours to the Istanbul mast.

"It’s going to be a tough season. The team is aware of that. I’m ready to give everything for this club. This was an important wake-up call. It was a wake-up call for the players too," he said, framing the performance as a jolt rather than a crisis.

The message was clear: if he stays, he is all in.

He did not spare his team-mates either, demanding an immediate reaction and pointing straight to the stands as his reference point.

"We have to give everything on the pitch. Our fans give us incredible energy, they always support us. We need to reciprocate," he insisted. "We need to gain momentum before the Champions League. We need to fight very well from the very first match."

That Champions League line matters. Galatasaray’s season is already being measured against Europe’s looming glare, and right now there is work to do. Serious work.

At the back, Okan Buruk has problems to solve. Galatasaray looked loose, short of the cohesion their coach demands and their supporters expect. With the next league fixture fast approaching and the new league-phase format in the Champions League on the horizon, the margin for error is shrinking.
