Victor Osimhen Joins Galatasaray's Elite Scorers

Victor Osimhen has climbed into rarefied company at Galatasaray, and he did it with the kind of ruthless efficiency that has become his trademark.

On Friday night, the Nigeria international struck twice in a 4-0 dismantling of Erzurum FK, a result that kept the Turkish champions in full control and pushed Osimhen into the club’s history books. Those two goals took his tally to 62 in just 76 appearances for the Istanbul side.

That number matters. It moves him clear of Milan Baros on Galatasaray’s all-time list of foreign scorers. The former Czech Republic international had long occupied third place with 61 goals, but Osimhen’s latest brace, highlighted by Turkish outlet A Spor on X, nudged him past a name synonymous with Galatasaray’s attacking past.

He is not just scoring, he is creating. Since arriving at the club, the 27-year-old has also laid on 16 assists, underlining his influence in every phase of Galatasaray’s attacking play.

Only two foreign greats now stand ahead of him. Mauro Icardi leads the way with 77 goals, the Argentine marksman setting the modern benchmark for overseas forwards in the famous yellow and red. Gheorghe Hagi, the Romanian icon whose name is woven into the club’s mythology, sits second on 72.

Osimhen is closing in.

His start to the new Süper Lig campaign has only sharpened that sense of inevitability. With his double against Erzurum FK, he moved to at least four goals across Galatasaray’s opening two league fixtures. No foreign player had managed that since Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season, when the Brazilian striker terrorised defences and filled scoreboards.

To be mentioned in the same breath as Jardel, Icardi and Hagi is no small thing at a club that measures its forwards against legends. Yet the numbers leave little room for debate: 62 goals, 16 assists, and a scoring rate that has already carried him past Baros.

The milestones keep stacking up. The question now is simple: how far up that foreign scorers list can Osimhen climb before this season is done?
