Valencia Target Harvey Elliott for Summer Move
Valencia are pushing hard to pull off one of the more intriguing moves of the summer, with Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott emerging as their priority target to ignite the attack.
The Spanish club have moved the 23-year-old to the very top of their list after his stock dropped sharply at Anfield under coach Andoni Iraola. According to journalist Matteo Moretto, talks are already under way between Liverpool, Valencia and the player, with all sides aiming to close a loan deal quickly.
The intent is clear. So is Elliott’s.
Reports indicate the England international has told Iraola he wants to leave Liverpool for Valencia, and there is growing optimism that an agreement can be reached. The framework being discussed is a loan, viewed by all parties as the cleanest way out of a situation that has deteriorated rapidly for the midfielder.

The Valencia head coach has already spoken directly with Elliott, as reported by Spanish newspaper Marca, to sell him on the project and on life in La Liga. The response from the player has been positive: he is said to be excited by the prospect of a new league, a new role and the chance to wear the Valencia shirt.
Inside the club, the plan for him is ambitious. Valencia see Elliott as a line-breaking midfielder who can glide past opponents, open up tight defences and carry a goal threat from deeper positions. Executives believe he can give their attack a different dimension, someone who links midfield to the forwards with tempo and personality.
His last campaign, though, told a different story.
Elliott spent the previous season on loan at Aston Villa, but the move never truly took off. He made just nine appearances in all competitions, stuck on the fringes of Unai Emery’s side. One key detail shaped that outcome: a clause in the loan agreement meant Villa would have been obliged to sign him permanently for £35 million if he had reached 10 games. Emery later admitted that the lack of minutes weighed on the player before he returned to Liverpool this summer.
Back at Anfield, the numbers show a player who has already lived a lot in a short career. Since arriving from Fulham in 2019, Elliott has made 149 appearances for Liverpool. He played a central role in Jürgen Klopp’s farewell season, featuring 53 times and often injecting energy and creativity off the bench or from the start.
Then the ground shifted beneath him.
First under Arne Slot and now under Iraola, Elliott has slipped down the pecking order. The clearest sign came in Liverpool’s most recent match against Newcastle, when Iraola left him out of the squad altogether. No explanation was really needed; the decision underlined a simple reality: other options now stand ahead of him in the manager’s thinking.
That is where Valencia come in, sensing opportunity in a player who has already proved he can handle the demands of a top club, but suddenly finds himself without a clear path in England.
If the deal goes through as all sides hope, Elliott will swap Anfield’s familiar red for the pressure and expectation of Mestalla. For Valencia, it is a calculated gamble on talent and timing.
