Tottenham Signs Sávio for £75m from Manchester City
Tottenham have made their boldest move of the summer, sealing the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, with the 22-year-old choosing to go by Sávio at his new club.
Spurs will pay £75m for the wide forward, in a deal that could rise by a further £10m in add-ons, underlining just how heavily the club are investing in their new attacking era.
“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said after the move was confirmed. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”
De Zerbi’s New Winger
Roberto De Zerbi wasted no time spelling out exactly why Tottenham pushed so hard to get the deal done.
“Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” the head coach said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”
That is the profile De Zerbi craves: aggressive, fearless wide players who can break games open on their own. Sávio now becomes a centrepiece of that plan, not just another squad option.
City Connection Deepens
Tottenham are not finished shopping at Manchester City. Another forward from the Premier League champions, Omar Marmoush, is also expected to join Spurs, continuing a striking pattern in their recruitment.
If that move is completed, Marmoush will become the club’s fifth signing of £50m or more this summer, following Sávio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. It is a level of spending that signals a club trying to jump tiers, not just tread water.
Experience at the Back
While the headlines sit with the big-money arrivals, Spurs have also quietly added proven experience to their defence. Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have both come in on free transfers, adding leadership and depth behind the expensive rebuild further up the pitch.
