Tottenham Signs Omar Marmoush on Loan from Manchester City

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Omar Marmoush after striking a deal with Manchester City for a loan with an obligation to buy the Egyptian forward.

The 25-year-old is due to undergo a medical after the clubs agreed a package worth an initial £50million, with £5m in guaranteed add-ons and a further £5m in additional bonuses. He is expected to sign a four-year contract, with Spurs holding an option to extend it by another 12 months.

Crucially for Tottenham, the move is understood to be entirely separate from the £85m arrival of Savio from City. The Brazilian winger completed his switch on Tuesday and is eligible to make his debut in tonight’s Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Charlton, as the club’s aggressive summer rebuild gathers pace.

There is no sell-on clause owed to Marmoush’s former club Eintracht Frankfurt, despite suggestions to the contrary. The structure of the deal leaves Spurs and City as the only parties involved in the agreement.

Marmoush arrives in north London after a stuttering spell at the Etihad. He joined City in January 2025 and started brightly, but never cemented a regular place and slipped down the pecking order. Last season he managed only eight Premier League starts, though he still finished with eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.

That return, combined with his work rate and mobility, has convinced Roberto De Zerbi that Marmoush can lead the line at Tottenham. The forward is understood to be confident he can eventually dislodge Richarlison and Dominic Solanke to become De Zerbi’s first-choice striker.

Tottenham’s spending has already surged past £300m this summer, with Savio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke all through the door. Marmoush is set to be the latest piece in an increasingly expensive puzzle – and one expected to fight for the most scrutinised role in De Zerbi’s new-look side.
