Tottenham Reject Everton's Bid for Richarlison Amidst High Valuation
Tottenham have turned down an offer from Everton for Richarlison, with the Brazilian forward keen on a return to Merseyside but blocked by Spurs’ valuation.
The bid from Everton is understood to fall short of what the north London club are demanding, with Tottenham holding out for at least £35 million before they even consider doing business. From their side, the message is clear: sentiment won’t undercut the price.
Richarlison, now 29, knows Everton well. He spent four seasons at Goodison Park, became a crowd favourite, and then left in a £60m move to Tottenham in 2022. That fee still looms large in Spurs’ thinking as they weigh up any sale.
His pre-season has been busy. Roberto De Zerbi has used him regularly, but the Italian is also pushing hard to reshape his forward line. Tottenham are targeting Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City’s Savinho, a double move that would immediately squeeze the Brazilian’s minutes and status.
If those deals land, Richarlison’s place in the pecking order changes overnight.
Everton are watching that situation closely. David Moyes wants more firepower this summer and a reunion with a player who produced some of his best football in blue is an obvious temptation. Richarlison’s intensity, his edge, and his connection with the Everton support would all drop straight back into place.
But romance does not pay transfer fees. Spurs have already shown they will not fold easily when Everton come calling.
The Toffees tried to sign Djed Spence before his move to Inter Milan. Their £25m offer was knocked back, Tottenham held firm, and Inter eventually sealed the deal for around £30m, with a 10 per cent sell-on clause built into the agreement. It was a reminder that Spurs will push every last detail to their advantage.
This time, the stakes are higher. Richarlison has other admirers monitoring his situation, and Tottenham know it. If Everton want to bring him home, they will have to move from hopeful negotiations to hard cash – and match a valuation that is not budging.
