Still, data helps. The experts at Opta use an Elo-based system analyzing over 2.5 million matches, giving each team a rating that factors in league strength, country ranking, and continent level. Here's a look at the 30 top-ranked football clubs worldwide based on those ratings as of June 1, 2026.

Teams Ranked 30th to 21st

The list starts with Tottenham Hotspur at 30th, barely escaping relegation from the Premier League. They sit just behind Juventus (29th) and Everton (28th).

FC Porto, freshly crowned Portuguese champions, hold 25th place with a 90.5 rating, tied with Napoli and Crystal Palace. Napoli recently parted ways with Antonio Conte after losing their Serie A title, while Palace are enjoying a golden era after winning the UEFA Conference League.

Fulham ranks 24th after a steady season. Other clubs rounding out this group include Roma, Club Brugge, and Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen finished sixth in Germany but had a solid year overall; Club Brugge celebrated their 20th Belgian title.
