Tijjani Reijnders in Talks with Al-Qadsiah for €60 Million Move
Manchester City and Al-Qadsiah are in advanced talks over a deal for Tijjani Reijnders, with the Saudi club pushing hard to land the Dutch midfielder in a move worth around €60 million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the clubs are progressing and an agreement on the fee is close. The deal, though, is not done. Reijnders himself has not yet been fully convinced by the move and is still weighing up his options.
That hesitation keeps the door open for Nottingham Forest. The Premier League side are tracking the situation closely and remain keen on the 28-year-old, ready to react if the Al-Qadsiah proposal stalls or if the player decides he wants to stay in Europe.
Reijnders is under contract at Manchester City until mid-2030, a long-term commitment that underlines how highly the club rated him when he arrived from AC Milan last summer for €55 million. He had been one of Milan’s standout performers, and he initially carried that form into his start in Manchester.
The early weeks suggested he would become a key figure for City. Then the momentum faded. As the season wore on, Reijnders gradually slipped to the bench, squeezed by the depth and competition in Pep Guardiola’s midfield.
Even so, his numbers from last season underline his quality. Reijnders logged 2,810 minutes in all competitions for City, scoring seven goals – five of them in the Premier League – and supplying eight assists. Not spectacular by City’s standards, but solid production for a first season in a demanding system.
Now comes a career-defining decision. Stay at City and fight to reclaim a regular starting role, explore a different Premier League project with Forest, or follow the growing Dutch contingent heading to the Saudi Pro League.
Reijnders could end up mirroring the path of fellow Netherlands international Crysencio Summerville, who joined Al-Hilal after a strong World Cup and embraced a new stage of his career in Saudi Arabia.
The money is on the table. The agreement between clubs is almost there. The final word belongs to Reijnders – and it will say plenty about where he sees the next peak of his career.
