Stoke City Sign Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace

Stoke City have landed midfielder Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace, completing a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee as they continue an aggressive summer rebuild.

The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international arrives with serious pedigree for a player of his age. Across three seasons at Selhurst Park, Devenny made 60 appearances and scored four goals, but his value to Palace went beyond the numbers. He was part of squads that lifted the FA Cup, the Community Shield and the Uefa Conference League, exposed to high-stakes football in England and in Europe.

Now he swaps south London for the Potteries, becoming Stoke’s tenth signing of a busy window and a central piece in a squad clearly being tooled up for a promotion push.

With the size of the club, that's what we need to aim to be.

Inside the building, Stoke see more than just another body in midfield. Sporting director Jon Walters underlined the edge Devenny is expected to bring.

Walters praised the midfielder’s “tenacious attitude” and stressed that his Premier League and European experience should raise the standard within the group. Devenny, he said, offers versatility and extra competition in key areas of the pitch – exactly what the club targeted as they reshaped the squad over the summer.

Stoke have made their intentions clear in the market. The question now is whether this new-look group, with Devenny at its heart, can turn that intent into a sustained Championship promotion challenge.
