Sparta Rotterdam Nears Loan Deal for Isaac Babadi from PSV

Sparta Rotterdam are closing in on a loan deal for Isaac Babadi from PSV, with the move expected to be sealed on Deadline Day, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been on the fringes at the Philips Stadion, struggling to force his way into Peter Bosz’s plans. PSV have therefore given the green light for him to leave on loan in search of regular minutes.

Earlier this week, Voetbal International reported that both Fortuna Sittard and Sparta were pushing to bring him in. Sparta now look set to win that battle, adding creativity and energy to their midfield as the window closes.

The agreement stands on its own and is not tied to Ayoni Santos’ recent move from Sparta to PSV. According to ED, Sparta will not take on Babadi’s full salary, but will cover part of his wages as part of the loan arrangement.

Babadi is under contract in Eindhoven until mid-2028 and has already made 35 official first-team appearances for PSV, scoring three goals and providing one assist. On paper, it is the profile of a player who should be knocking on the door. In reality, his last appearance for PSV’s first team came back in May of last year.

That gap is largely explained by his loan spell at Royal Antwerp FC last season, where he featured 21 times in official matches. Now, with another temporary move on the horizon, Sparta are betting that a change of scenery inside the Eredivisie can finally unlock the potential PSV have tied down long term.
