Sheffield United Sign Experienced Forward Jordan Ayew

Sheffield United have moved to bolster their attack with the signing of experienced forward Jordan Ayew on a deal until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old arrives at Bramall Lane as a free agent after leaving Leicester City in the summer, following the Foxes’ drop into League One. His contract there expired at the end of last season, ending a brief spell in the East Midlands.

Ayew’s CV is heavy with English football miles. He first came to England in 2015 when Aston Villa brought him in from French side Lorient, and he has spent the last 11 years shuttling between the Premier League and Championship with Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

On the international stage, his record is just as substantial. Ayew has 124 caps for Ghana and was still leading from the front for his country this year.

"We're talking about someone here with bags of experience from right at the top level of the game," manager Chris Wilder told the club’s website. "Only a few months ago he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup, so he's someone with real pedigree.

"He did well at this level last season in difficult circumstances and has played all across the front positions during his career which gives us plenty of options."
