Serhou Guirassy: Milestone of 100 Games for Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy needed a moment for it to sink in.

"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," said the 30-year-old forward, a summer 2024 signing from VfB Stuttgart, as the figure was put to him.

One hundred competitive appearances in just over two years. That number alone tells a story of durability, of a striker who is always available, always in the firing line. Then you look at the goals – and the picture becomes even sharper.

In the 3-2 home win over Villarreal CF, Guirassy struck twice, taking his tally in a BVB shirt to 63 and 64. Clinical finishes, the kind that have become his trademark in Black & Yellow. The double did more than win a game; it pushed him into rare company in Dortmund’s modern history.

Only one man sits clearly above him in this era: Erling Haaland, who plundered an extraordinary 86 goals in 89 competitive matches for Borussia Dortmund. That is the benchmark, the freak standard. Guirassy is not matching that pace, but he is chasing in a way very few have managed.

Look further back and another name emerges. Lothar Emmerich, one of the greats of the club’s early Bundesliga years, hit 64 goals in his first 100 league games for Dortmund. Guirassy has now reached that same mark across his first century of competitive outings for BVB, underlining how quickly he has written himself into the club’s attacking lineage.

And on the Champions League stage, the hierarchy is just as exclusive. Only Marco Reus stands ahead of Guirassy in Dortmund’s scoring charts in Europe’s elite competition. The company he keeps says enough about the impact of a striker who, without even noticing the milestones, has become one of the defining finishers of this BVB generation.
