San Diego FC Signs Veteran Striker Cedric to Boost Attack

San Diego FC have moved decisively to sharpen their attack, unveiling veteran striker Cedric as the club’s latest marquee addition.

Sporting director Tyler Heaps fronted the announcement and made no attempt to play down the scale of the signing.

“Cedric brings an incredible level of experience and proven quality to San Diego FC,” Heaps said, framing the deal as a statement of intent from the expansion side. He stressed the forward’s pedigree at the sharp end of elite competition: “He has built an outstanding career competing at the highest levels in Europe and internationally, and his ability to consistently find the back of the net has been a defining part of his game. He understands what it takes to perform on the biggest stages and brings a winning mentality that will be extremely valuable to our group.”

The numbers back him up. Since breaking through at Sochaux, the Congolese striker has stacked up 191 goals and 49 assists in 492 club appearances, a body of work built across demanding stops at Villarreal, Marseille, Olympiacos, and Galatasaray. He hasn’t exactly gone missing on the international stage either: 21 goals in 72 caps for DR Congo, with four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments on his résumé.

For a club still building its identity, that kind of track record matters. Heaps knows it.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Cedric and his family to San Diego and look forward to seeing him make his mark with our club,” he added, underlining the expectation that this is more than a short-term splash.

Cedric won’t be asked to carry the attack alone. He drops into a frontline already loaded with talent, joining Anders Dreyer, Marcus Ingvartsen, and fellow 2026 World Cup forward Elias Achouri. There is power there now, and variety: different profiles, different angles of threat, all orbiting around a striker who has spent a career turning half-chances into headlines.

San Diego FC wanted proven firepower. They’ve just handed the job to a man who has built his career on exactly that.
