Sacha Boey Likely to Stay at Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has admitted that Sacha Boey is now likely to stay at the club, despite plans to move him on this summer.
The Bundesliga champions had been ready to part ways with the French full-back, but no deal was completed before the German transfer window shut. With that door now closed, Boey’s future has swung back towards Bavaria.
"The probability is now greater that he'll stay here," Freund told reporters on Friday, underlining a shift from Bayern’s original strategy.
Boey, 25, has struggled to establish himself since joining the club, yet Freund made a point of praising his attitude.
"He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football," he said, acknowledging how quickly squad plans can be ripped up by the realities of the market.
Freund made it clear that once the remaining transfer windows around Europe are shut, Bayern will treat Boey as a full part of their plans.
"When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad."
For Boey, a summer that was supposed to bring a fresh start elsewhere may now turn into an unexpected second chance in Munich.
