Reiss Nelson Parts Ways with Arsenal by Mutual Agreement

Arsenal have confirmed that Reiss Nelson has left the club after both sides agreed to terminate his contract. The 26-year-old winger, who rose through Arsenal's Hale End academy, is now free to join a new team as he looks for more playing time.

A Fresh Start for Nelson

The decision comes as Nelson approaches an important phase in his career. He was hoping for more consistent minutes than manager Mikel Arteta could provide at the Emirates Stadium. Though his contract had one year remaining, including an option for an additional season, Arsenal chose to let him move on now to facilitate his next step.

Challenges with Playing Time and Injuries

During the 2025-26 season, Nelson was on loan at Brentford but struggled with injuries and limited chances. He appeared only 13 times across all competitions, starting just three matches, all in domestic cup games.

Before Brentford, Nelson spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Fulham. Unfortunately, a serious hamstring injury cut that campaign short in December 2024.
