Pedro Neto Transfer Saga: Chelsea's High Valuation Amid Manchester City Interest

Pedro Neto has emerged as one of the most talked‑about names of the final days of the transfer window, with four Premier League clubs circling and Manchester City among the suitors.

The 26-year-old Portugal winger is no longer seen as part of the ‘untouchable’ core at Stamford Bridge, leaving Chelsea open to a sale if the price is right before the deadline. That does not mean he will come cheap.

Chelsea are making it clear they want a major fee for Neto, who arrived from Wolves in 2024 for £54m. Inside the club, there is a firm belief that the current market for wide forwards has exploded, driven less by supply and more by desperation at the top end of the game.

The numbers back that feeling. Morgan Rogers’ £117m move and Paris St-Germain’s £145m valuation of Bradley Barcola have become reference points in negotiations. Those deals have hardened Chelsea’s stance and pushed Neto’s valuation higher, with the London club determined not to undersell a player they still regard as a prime attacking asset.

That has not cooled interest from Manchester City. Neto is on City’s radar and a move to the Etihad would reunite him with Enzo Maresca, his former head coach at Chelsea. The pair are understood to enjoy a strong working relationship, and Neto was among the players reported to be frustrated when Maresca left midway through last season.

Now the clock is ticking. Chelsea hold a winger in his peak years, in a seller’s market, with a manager he trusts waiting at a title-chasing rival. Whether that combination forces someone to meet their price before the window slams shut is the question driving the final days of this saga.
