Paris FC Targets Jonathan David as Immobile Replacement

Paris FC have set their sights on Juventus forward Jonathan David as they scramble to reshape their attack after the shock retirement of Ciro Immobile, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

David, 26, arrived in Turin from Lille OSC on a free transfer last summer, but the move has not caught fire. Under Luciano Spalletti he has struggled to convince, and the Italian coach is now ready to move him on, the report states.

That has alerted Paris FC, who suddenly find themselves lighter up front than expected. Willem Geubbels was sold earlier in the summer and replaced by Lassine Sinayoko, a planned, controlled change. Immobile’s decision was anything but.

The veteran striker had been expected to play on for at least one more season. Instead, he stunned the dressing room last month by announcing his imminent retirement, ripping up Paris FC’s attacking blueprint in a single meeting.

So the club have gone back into the market. Liam Rosenior wants another weapon in the final third, and David has emerged as a serious candidate to fill the void. A forward in his prime, with Ligue 1 experience and a point to prove after a flat year in Italy, fits the profile.

The path is not clear, though. Atlético Madrid are also in the running, offering a very different project and the pull of La Liga. If Juventus are ready to cut ties, the battle for David could quickly turn into one of the more intriguing attacking moves of this window.

For Paris FC, still recalibrating after Immobile’s abrupt farewell, winning that race might define the shape — and ceiling — of their season.
