Napoli Targets Marc Guiu as Key Striker

Napoli are pushing hard to pull Marc Guiu out of his Chelsea limbo and drop him straight into the heart of their attack.

With the market entering its final stretch, the Partenopei have moved the 18-year-old Spaniard to the top of their list and are ready to back that conviction with cash. According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli are preparing a permanent offer worth around €15–16 million, plus performance-related bonuses, to convince Chelsea to let the striker go.

This is not a late-window punt. Inside the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Guiu is viewed as a strategic piece – someone who can help immediately while growing into a long-term reference point up front. A former La Masia product who joined Chelsea in 2024, he has slipped into what has been described as a kind of Stamford Bridge purgatory, buried in a swollen squad and fighting for scraps of playing time.

For Chelsea, the situation cuts both ways. On one side sits a powerful, promising centre-forward they initially valued closer to £25 million. On the other is the reality of a bloated first-team group, pressure to trim the wage bill and the need to generate fees to stay on the right side of financial rules. Guiu’s desire for regular minutes only sharpens the dilemma.

As the deadline creeps closer, that tension is driving negotiations. Napoli sense an opening. Their proposal, edging towards €16 million, underlines just how determined they are to land a new number nine capable of leading their push back towards the European places this season. They believe Guiu has the profile and mentality to adapt quickly to Serie A’s tactical and physical demands.

They are not alone in that assessment. Sevilla have also tracked the teenager throughout the summer. The Andalusian club, reshaping their forward line after the exits of Akor Adams and Alexis Sanchez, had earmarked Guiu as a key piece to complete their attack and compete with new signing Robbie Ure. Their idea was a loan, a low-risk way to give him a platform.

Then Napoli arrived with serious money. The Italian side’s financial muscle threatens to shut the door on Sevilla, whose temporary approach cannot match a sizeable permanent bid from Serie A.

Napoli, though, have not bet the entire window on one name. While Guiu has become the leading candidate, their recruitment team has worked in parallel on a shortlist of alternatives, many of them established Premier League forwards. Earlier in the summer, enquiries were made for Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Manchester United’s recent signing Joshua Zirkzee, though those avenues are understood to be far more complicated and expensive to pursue.

So the equation is clear. Napoli want Guiu as their new spearhead. Chelsea must decide whether to cash in now or keep faith with a teenager currently stuck on the fringes. With the clock ticking on the window, one of Europe’s most intriguing late moves is about to be decided.
