The Italian club Napoli has reportedly set its sights on Chelsea's defender Benoit Badiashile. Once a prized signing for the Blues, Badiashile joined the team in January 2023 with a £35 million price tag, expected to strengthen their defense.

Injuries and fluctuating performances have seen the French centre-back slip down the ranks, despite hopes for a resurgence under the new coach Xabi Alonso. The 25-year-old appears not to fit into Alonso's current plans, raising doubts about his chances of increasing his tally beyond 71 appearances over three and a half years.

Transfer Prospects at Napoli

According to The Sun, Napoli is exploring a move for Badiashile after an injury sidelined their player Alessandro Buongiorno. While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, Napoli is believed to be offering a three-year deal. Badiashile seems open to a switch to Naples before the 2026-27 season kicks off.

Last season was limited for Badiashile, as he featured in only 16 matches across all competitions, including eight Premier League games.

Financial Considerations and Chelsea's Asking Price

Chelsea might aim for around £20 million to avoid a loss, given that Badiashile is still under a seven-and-a-half-year contract signed in 2023. This figure is lower than the £30-35 million they hope to recoup from players like Trevoh Chalobah, who is considered more promising.

Napoli may argue that Badiashile’s limited appearances—never exceeding 22 league games in a single season since 2022-23—could justify a lower price. Whether they are willing to meet Chelsea's valuation is yet to be determined.
