Monaco Signs Moroccan Young Talents to Professional Contracts

Monaco have moved quickly to lock in two of Morocco’s most promising youngsters, handing professional deals to a quartet of academy prospects after a standout season at youth level.

The club announced on Tuesday that Safouane Benzahra, Nahil El Haddani, Nejd Ajroud and Melvin Gomes Da Veiga have all signed their first professional contracts, committing them to the Principality until 30 June 2029.

All four were born in 2008 and formed the core of Monaco’s under-19 side that surged to the semi-finals of the French league last season, a run that pushed them firmly onto the radar of rival scouts.

Two of them already carry international pedigree. Benzahra and El Haddani are youth internationals with Morocco, while Ajroud represents the Tunisian-French talent line in midfield. Da Veiga, another of the 2008 crop, has also forced his way into the club’s plans with his performances.

The step up has been coming. French outlet Foot Mercato underlined the trajectory, noting that the four “were ready to step up to a higher level” after joining Filipe Luís’s group during pre-season preparations with the senior squad.

The trust in Benzahra has gone even further. The young Moroccan has already tasted top-flight football, making his competitive debut in Ligue 1 against Paris Saint-Germain, a clear signal of how highly Monaco rate him.

For Ajroud, El Haddani and Da Veiga, the path is now drawn. Contracts signed, futures secured, and the first team suddenly within touching distance.
