Marc Guiu Set to Leave Chelsea for RB Leipzig

Chelsea have given the green light for striker Marc Guiu to leave Stamford Bridge permanently, with the 20-year-old set for a move to RB Leipzig.

The Spain Under-21 forward is expected to join the Bundesliga side, though voices in Germany are still stressing that a few final details need to be ironed out before the deal is signed off. The fee remains largely under wraps, but Guiu has been valued at around £25m.

It marks a sharp turnaround in fortunes for a player Chelsea only brought in from Barcelona in 2024 for about £5m, prising him away from his boyhood club as a long-term project at centre-forward.

Guiu’s Chelsea career never quite settled. He managed 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight times. Six of those goals came in the club’s triumphant 2024-25 Conference League campaign, where he did some of his best work in a blue shirt on European nights rather than in the Premier League grind.

A short loan spell at Sunderland last season offered little clarity. He played just three matches there, unable to carve out a sustained role before returning to London. By this summer, the direction of travel felt obvious: Guiu trained away from the main first-team group, with expectations growing inside the club that he would move on.

Leipzig, with their track record of developing young attacking talent, are now poised to take on that task. Chelsea, for their part, bank a sizeable profit on a player they held for barely a year.

There is movement elsewhere in the squad planning, too. Midfielder Kendry Paez has been recalled from an unsuccessful loan stint at River Plate, a decision designed to free up an overseas loan slot. The Ecuadorian teenager is now expected to head back out again, potentially to a club in England, as Chelsea continue to shuffle their emerging talents around Europe in search of the right stage.
