Manchester United’s hunt for a new left-back has taken a sharp twist, with sensational claims in Turkey insisting Brighton’s player of the year Ferdi Kadioglu is on the brink of a £40 million move to Old Trafford.
The report, from Turkish outlet AS Marca, states United are “set to transfer” the 26-year-old, with former club Fenerbahçe due 10% of the fee – around €4.7m – under a sell-on clause. No major UK outlet has verified the story yet, but the noise around Kadioglu is growing louder by the day.
Brighton brace for another big-name exit
Brighton know this feeling well. Every time they build something, the elite circle. The Seagulls have already watched Carlos Baleba edge towards a £65m deal with United, with a further £5m in add-ons on the table.
Right winger Yankuba Minteh could be next, with Liverpool weighing up a third bid believed to be in the £65m–£70m range as they look to finally force a breakthrough.

Balde’s stance is clear: he wants to stay at Camp Nou. He would only move if Barcelona decide to cash in and accept a bid. A face-to-face meeting with Hansi Flick is looming and could be decisive in shaping his future.
So while United keep one eye on Hall and another on Balde, the Turkish claims suggest they may already have pivoted to the player who just delivered a standout season on the south coast.

The Kadioglu story still sits in the “unconfirmed” column. No top-tier English reporter has backed it yet, and there has been no public indication from Brighton or United. For now, it remains a strong rumour, not a done deal.
But Brighton lining up Jaouen Hadjam as a long-term left-back, just as talk of a £40m sale of their current star in that role explodes, adds an intriguing layer. The timing is hard to dismiss.
