Manchester City Sign Palmeiras Winger Allan Elias for £34.2m
Manchester City have moved quickly to reshape their attack, sealing the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan Elias in a deal worth up to £34.2m.
The 22-year-old Brazilian joins on a five-year contract, with City paying an initial £32m plus a further £2.2m in potential add-ons. He arrives as a straight replacement for compatriot Savio, who left for Tottenham Hotspur in a £75m transfer last week.
From Palmeiras prodigy to City’s next wide threat
Allan comes in from Brazilian giants Palmeiras, where he climbed through the academy and into the first team, carving out a reputation as a sharp, right-sided winger. Across 96 appearances in all competitions, he scored nine goals and supplied 12 assists, numbers that only tell part of the story of a player whose direct running and creativity have drawn European attention.
For Allan, the move marks a dramatic step into the European elite.
“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” he said.
“To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.
“I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.”
The message is clear: he sees City as the stage on which to test his ceiling.
Maresca’s overhaul gathers pace
Allan’s arrival is another piece in a frantic summer for Enzo Maresca, who has wasted no time reshaping the squad in his image.
City have already pushed spending beyond £230m. Elliot Anderson came in from Nottingham Forest for £116m, a major outlay on a midfielder expected to anchor the next phase of the project. Ayyoub Bouaddi followed from Lille for £85.6m, another bold investment in youth and potential.
The recruitment drive is not finished. City are in talks with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, while Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez remains a key target as Maresca looks to refresh both the front line and the engine room.
Yet this is not a one-way flow of money. The club have generated over £286m in player sales, softening the impact of their aggressive rebuild. The headline departure is Rodri, the 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner, who has joined Barcelona in a £65m move. Tijani Reijnders has also exited, completing a £52m transfer to Al-Qadsiah.
So City find themselves in a curious position: heavy spenders, but still net sellers.
Allan now steps into that shifting landscape, expected to bring pace, width and a touch of Brazilian flair to a side being rapidly retooled. How quickly he adapts to the Premier League tempo, and how Maresca weaves him into a new-look attack, will say plenty about where this evolving City project is really heading.
