Man City Secure £60m Signing of Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye as Maresca Reinforces Attack

Manchester City have agreed to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton in a deal worth an initial £60 million, with potential add-ons of £5 million tied to performance. The 26-year-old Senegal international is expected to complete his medical on Tuesday as part of this transfer.

City Moves Quickly After Setbacks

The agreement comes after Enzo Maresca faced challenges securing other attacking targets. Notably, Liverpool rejected City's bid for Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, forcing the club to shift focus. In response, Man City pushed ahead decisively to land Ndiaye, outpacing Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who were also interested in the winger.

Filling the Void Left by Departures

Ndiaye’s arrival aims to strengthen a City attack depleted by recent sales. Key attackers Savinho and Omar Marmoush moved permanently to Tottenham, leaving gaps in Maresca’s squad. Alongside Ndiaye, City recently secured promising Brazilian winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras for £32 million, signaling an active transfer window to rebuild their offensive options.

Ndiaye’s Time at Everton Comes to an End

The winger closes a productive two-year stint at Everton where he became a fan favourite. He scored 17 goals across 74 appearances, consistently contributing to the team. Despite transfer rumors, Ndiaye was a regular starter in Everton’s opening Premier League matches this season, aiding wins over Crystal Palace and draws against Bournemouth.

Now, he prepares to join Man City’s squad ahead of upcoming fixtures, including their match against Coventry City on 5 September and Everton facing Manchester United on 6 September.
